1. University of Illinois at Springfield

GRADUATE PUBLIC SERVICE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (GPSI)

The Graduate Public Service Internship Program (GPSI) is a unique internship experience that provides full-time graduate students with the opportunity to gain experience in their field through an internship while earning a master’s degree from UIS. GPSI interns work 20 hours per week during the academic year for a stipend of $950 per month, and 37.5 hours per week during the summer for a monthly stipend of $1900, and receive a 40 credit hour tuition waiver and an annual $300 professional development fund to be used for workshops, journals, etc. GPSI is a competitive internship program with only the most qualified selected for the positions.

The GPSI program accepts applicants from all majors who have completed either an undergraduate or advanced degree. Applicants must have been awarded the degree prior to starting the internship which begins August 16 of each year. The deadline for application completion is March 15th.. GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS (GA)

Graduate assistantships at UIS are designed to recruit outstanding and promising students to graduate study with special attention to enhancing diversity, to provide appropriate graduate-level learning experiences, to provide support that enables graduate students to complete their degrees in a timely fashion, and to provide the campus with support services. Graduate assistants' activities are varied, and may include conducting survey research, mentoring undergraduates, developing websites, creating print materials, doing library research, participating in faculty meetings, serving on search committees, and helping with classroom instruction. The GA program is a competitive assistantship program with only the most qualified selected for the positions.

The monthly stipend for first year graduate assistants is $887.50 per month ($7,987.50 for the nine-month period) during the academic year, from mid-August to mid-May. Graduate assistants also receive a tuition waiver for 8 to 12 credit hours per semester, and graduate assistants who serve during the fall and/or spring semester receive a tuition waiver of up to six credit hours for the subsequent summer session. The deadline for application completion is March 15th. Assistantships begin August 16th. Only international students with an F-1 visa are eligible for consideration.

2. Claremont McKenna College, Robert Day School of Economics and Finance, Claremont, California

3. The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College

5. Social Science Postdoctoral Fellow (International Environment and Development)

The Institute for the Theory and Practice of International Relations and the Environmental Science and Policy (ENSP) Program at the College of William and Mary invite applicants for a two-year post doctoral position, sponsored by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. 

The position is open to candidates from all the social sciences.  The successful candidate will have expertise in either international development policy or environmental policy.  Having research or teaching expertise/interests at the intersection of environment and development is preferred, but not necessary.  The post doctoral fellow will be mentored (in research and teaching) by senior scholars at the Institute and ENSP, will have time to work on his/her own research, teach one class per semester (including some team teaching), mentor undergraduates in publication-quality research experiences, and contribute to ongoing research projects at the Institute. 

Compensation includes salary ($43,000-$50,000 per year) a research budget, travel budget, and computer.  Fellowship period begins in summer 2009.  Application materials include a letter of application, a current CV, a statement of research interests, copy of transcripts, at least three letters of recommendation, a statement summarizing teaching experience and philosophy, and samples of scholarly writing. 6. Graduate Research Opportunities-Climate and Environmental Modeling Research

Up to two graduate assistantships (MS or Ph.D) are available to prospective students in my Climate and Environmental Modeling Research Group. Applicants who have B.Sc. or M.Sc. in atmospheric science, applied mathematics, earth and environmental sciences are encouraged to apply. Strong computational background and prior experience in using regional climate models is preferred.

7. Louisiana State University

Graduate Research Assistantship

An attractive Graduate Research Assistantship is available for a doctoral student to do research on linkages between the US, Latin America, and the Caribbean. It begins in August 2009, includes a stipend of $25,000 per year for four years, an additional needs-based supplement, all tuition, and health insurance. The student must complete course work toward the PhD while maintaining a 3.5 GPA, carry out research on the project under my supervision, and develop a related dissertation project. No teaching duties are required. Further funding opportunities are available beyond the four-year grant, e.g., Departmental Assistant Instructorship, Grad School Dissertation Writing Fellowship, or Graduate Research Assistantship on another sponsored project.

8. The New York Film Academy provides matching grants with Fulbright, AMIDEAST, and Ford Foundation

The New York Film Academy is a two-year arts conservatory offering Associate of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts degree programs, academic and gap-year programs, and short-term workshops for credit transfer to universities around the world.

Funding: The New York Film Academy is an education partner with Fulbright, AMIDEAST, Ford Foundation, and the Organization of American States, providing matching grants for study in the Academy's academic-year programs, and its Associate of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts degree programs.
