GENERAL ELECTRIC TRANSPORTATION

Our Company is a Business Unit of GE Infrastructure and is engaged in the design, manufacture and maintenance of products and services for customers in the rail, transit, mining and drilling industries.  This includes freight and passenger locomotives, global services such as remote monitoring and diagnostics, maintenance, performance upgrades and parts, railway control and communication systems through GETS Global Signaling, online marketplace to buy and sell transportation equipment, parts and supplies, railcars through GE Capital Rail Services, propulsion and auxiliary power systems for transit vehicles and motorized drive systems for mining trucks and drilling motors.  GE Transportation is an ISO-9001 certified company.

Gannon Masters Degree Program

We are seeking 1-2 of the best students (students residing in their homeland or the United States today) with backgrounds in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Embedded Software.

Below is information about our Gannon Masters Degree Program. Upon completion of the program, the students will have achieved a master's degree in one of these disciplines and based on the student's and company's interest, we would like the students to return to their homeland and begin a career with GE Transportation in their homeland and the surrounding region.

  • Duration: 18-24 months
  • Start Date: January 12, 2009
  • Financials: GE pays full tuition and books - $18,000 USD per year. Students also receive an annual stipend - $30,000 USD per year.
  • Work Load: 19 hours per week - Fall and Winter Semesters | 50 hours per week - Summer | 9 credits per semester - Full time graduate student
  • Training: Master's Degree; Technical and Leadership Training and Mentoring; Rotational Assignments; Presentation Skills; Project reviews
  • Requirements: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Embedded Software; Proficiency in English (TOEFL scores required; GE Transportation will pay for the cost of the test for desired candidates if the candidate has not yet taken); Able to stay in Erie, PA for at least 18 months of the program; Must repatriate and work for GE Transportation in their homeland for minimum 2 years upon completion of program; Work experience desired, but not required.
